Froofy Twat

"As the country's most high-profile historian of the British monarchy" - which leaves him a nose ahead of the equally silly Lady Antonia Fraser in a field of two - David Starkey has a low opinion of Elizabeth II.

"I think she's got elements a bit like Goebbels in her attitude to culture," the historian told the Guardian. "You remember: 'Every time I hear the word culture I reach for my revolver.' "

No I don't remember. The line comes from a 1933 play by Hanns Johst, "Wenn ich Kultur höre ... entsichere ich meinen Browning."

As any fule, or at least any historian, no.

This is not actually new news, my mother used to say exactly this about the queen 30 years ago, so presumably it must have been tucked away in all the books she used to read about the European monarchy. Nobody said it quite so publicly is all.

I can picture the Queen - fag in one hand, gin in the other, feet up looking through the racing pages.

Calls upon footman "nip down to the betting shop and put a quid each way on number 3 in the 2 o'clock."

Not exactly news, maybe, that the QOTUK rates the gee-gees and the gin above "Kultur". And not such a bad thing either.

The POTUS (occupant Clinton) once sat through a whole demonstration of 'singing' by Charlotte Church and appeared to appreciate it.

Were you KOTUK, QOTUK, POTUS or FLOTUS --- you would have to survive a whole stack of Royal Variety Performances and such.

Skin like a rhino.

Not easy at the top, and you can't just have your tormentors liquidated, like that Mr Stalin could.
